Dr. Richard Spencer

Richard Spencer is Executive Director of the Information Technology department at the University of BC. He has a PhD in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer. He joined UBC in 1968 and was a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering for 20 years. He became University Registrar in 1988, and Registrar and Director, Student Services in 1993. Richard joined UBC’s Information Technology department in 2001, and became Executive Director in 2008. Richard has made numerous presentations on how universities can use information technology to help achieve their strategic objectives and improve service to all members of the university community.
