Online Data Retrieval System in Java

The Data Management Group provides online access to several transportation research datasets. Since late 2007 we have been rewriting this system in Java using the Apache Wicket web application framework and standard open-source tools. My presentation will cover the structure of the datasets, the functional view of the system and the implementation details. Introductory material on Wicket will be introduced and then built upon when describing how the system was implemented. The cool features of the implementation are: 1. Patricia Trie for fast AJAX auto-completing query filters. 2. OpenLayers dynamic map for visualizing the spatial attributes of the data.
