The Information Commons License Software Office Now Available on UShop!
Procurement Services is proud to announce it is launching a new UShop vendor, the Information Commons Licensed Software Office, also known on campus as the LSO. This partnership marks the first time that an internal UofT vendor is being offered online through UShop. The LSO has been offering software at educational prices to all UofT staff, faculty and students since 1990. They negotiate and administer software license agreements with various vendors in order to decrease overall software costs to the University.
Starting January 25, 2010, registered UShop users can login to UShop, click on the new LSO catalog and create shopping carts choosing from an impressive array of available software licenses such as Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Office, ARC/Info, and Matlab. Their online catalog is easy to use and fully functional. Once an order is complete, the LSO sends email notifications letting users know their order is ready for pickup at their counter located in the Information Commons at Robarts Library. The LSO plans to continue accepting existing methods of payment to help their customers adjust to purchasing through UShop. By spring of 2010, the LSO hopes to begin transitioning all departmental orders through UShop. Project team members agree this is a feasible goal, not only is a UShop account easy to obtain with departmental approval, but most business officers across campuses are already using UShop.
Building this successful project required meeting many logistical challenges and the dedication of many departments. Procurement Services is hopeful that this launch will pave the way for other successful partnerships with internal vendors.
Please join us in welcoming the Licensed Software Office to UShop, the largest online shopping system of any Canadian University!
